Arizona Tours: Arizona has a tour company for any adventure you can dream up. Luxury motor coach tours in 4 star hotels to camping out under the stars!
Arizona, with its wide open spaces is perfect for people who love to rent a car and head out to discover new things on their own, but with so much to see and do, it can require a lot of advance planning.
A fantastic way to enjoy a rent a car vacation and take in all the state has to offer is to include local tours at interesting locations along the way. Not only is this an economical vacation, but you have the ability to choose and enjoy only what interests you! Most local tours that do not include an overnight, can be booked on the spot or on short notice and range from Desert Jeep Tours in the Apache Stronghold of Southern Arizona to Grand Canyon Air Tours or walking tours of Historic Flagstaff.
If you prefer someone else do the driving, you can book a complete tour vacation that includes transportation, hotel, attractions and meals. The thing to keep in mind with a tour like this is you will be following the tour companies itinerary, not your own.
GUIDELINES FOR OVERNIGHT TOURS:
- Is the tour provider a member of the NTA or USTOA:
Both of these organizations have requirements that the tour company must meet to be a member. Since these organizations require a fee, many excellent tour companies may choose not to belong.
- What is the record with the Better Business Bureau:
Do not exclude a company because of a complaint. The real test is if the complaint was handled satisfactorily.
- What type of accomodations, transportation and/or food is provided:
This is one of the biggest complaints about a guided tour, a participant disappointed with the transportation or lodging. Find out in advance if you will be in a van, mini bus or luxury coach. What hotel or motels you will be staying at, so you can review them, what meals are provided, what extras such as baggage handling are provided and what is the tipping policy for the driver and guide.
- READ THE CANCELLATION POLICY!
All overnight tours will have a cancellation policy that may be as much as 60 days out. For an overnight trip you may have to book well in advance to insure your spot on the tour.
- Consider purchasing travel insurance: Read the fine print, most policies purchased from the tour provider WILL NOT protect you if that provider goes out of business. Many policies purchased independently WILL protect you from tour operator default. This is especially important when flying, do to the conditions of some airlines. This is our favorite site to COMPARE TRAVEL INSURANCE. Not only do they provide instant free quotes from dozens of companies, but they provide all the information you need to make an informed decision.
