Arizona Historical Hotels are a trip back in time and a ride down memory lane, back to a time when staying at a luxury hotel was something special. Many of these wonderful historic inns are located in the best locations for vacations and are a great alternative to the new chain hotels.

Spend the night in a Tee-Pee at the Wigwam Motel:

Wigwam Motel - Holbrook

One of the most fun properties available is the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook. You may have seen Oprah Winfrey checking it out during her Arizona Road Trip Show. It is a real operating motel with a great history. If you’re ever traveling interstate 40 in Northern Arizona, take Route 66 in Holbrook and stay in a Tee-pee for the night.

 

The beautiful and historic Jerome Grand Hotel is the place to stay in the ghost town of Jerome.

Once in the Verde Valley you just cannot afford to miss the splendor of this amazing historical hotel landmark. You’ll find spectacular views of the Verde Valley below from the hotel rooms. This hotel has all the modern amenities you expect from a modern hotel, but unlike a chain hotel, you’ll find a rich history and old fashioned service.

 

The Jerome Grand Hotel was built in 1926 as a hospital. At one time it was the most modern and up to date hospital In Arizona. The building is fireproof and built to withstand blasting from the nearby mines of Jerome. During the time the building was a hospital, several strange deaths were recorded, including a caretaker hanging himself, and a man falling from a balcony. Today many people claim that they have heard or witnessed unusual noises and activities in the hotel and believe it is haunted. The elevator is said to move for no reason at times.

 

When you come to the Jerome Grand Hotel you will almost immediately experience a rush from the past. It’s as if you have stepped into a bygone era. There’s a lot you can do and enjoy during your stay here. From marveling at the spectacular scenic beauty of the area to visiting the local artist's studios and enjoying the excellent cuisine available.

When visiting Southern Arizona be sure to visit the Copper Queen Hotel:

Another not to miss historical hotel is the Copper Queen located in the once boom town of Bisbee. This charming city is located at an elevation of 5300 feet and boasts a climate that is mild year round. The beautiful hotel has been upgraded with all the modern conveniences and has a superb restaurant. Located just steps from all of Bisbee’s great antique shopping and restaurants, this hotel is a great place to spend a night while exploring Arizona’s colorful history.

 

As with most of Arizona’s Historical Hotels and Lodging, the Copper Queen is believed by some to be haunted. Spend the night at this historical hotel and be the judge for yourself.
