Park your RV in Yuma for the winter!
RV travelers from around country call Yuma Arizona home in the winter months. Mostly retired people, snowbirds as we call them here, swam to this small town from October to April. During this time Yuma's population of about 60,000 more than doubles. With nearly perfect 70 and 80 degree winter weather, its easy to see the appeal this sandy little city has on Midwesterner's.
Don't worry about being bored during your Yuma RV stay, there is plenty to see and do. Yuma has a casino, parks, historical sites and several tour operators that work with the RV parks to offer visitors sightseeing trips to Mexico and gambling trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin. For a fun day trip and great bargains you can drive about 20 miles from Yuma to the Mexico border at Algodones. Park on the US side and walk across the border. This town is popular with US citizens for all the pharmacy's where you can purchase your prescriptions cheaply, dentists offices offering every type of dental care from dentures to braces and optometrist's who will make your glasses on site. You will also find some good bargains in the shops in town.
Book your space early in Quartzsite RV Parks!
During the months of May to Oct., Quartzsite Arizona is a hot, dry, dusty little town along interstate 10 with a population of about 2000 people. But as soon as the first snow falls in the Midwest and east this spot in the road begins to swell with snowbirds and RVs and does not stop until it reaches a population of over 1 million! The thousands of RV Park spots fill early so late arrivals dry dock in the desert around town. During this time the evening air is filled with a haze from the hundreds of campfires and dust from all the travel across the desert roads.
Quartzsite is famous for its winter attractions which include RV shows, car shows, gem and mineral shows and swap-meets. You will find anything you need for an RV here, from awnings to solar power cells and satellite TV setups. This place draws the same people year after year and wonderful friendships are forged here.
Arizona has plenty of "out of the way" RV parks and resorts.
If your looking for something a little quieter than the crowded RV parks of Yuma and Quartzsite, you'll find plenty of options. The Parker Arizona area has great parks along the Colorado River with gorgeous views, boating and fishing. Bouse and Salome Arizona located about 40 to 60 miles east of Parker, offer an excellent desert climate and several RV Parks, but they are not very crowded.
RVing isn't just for winter in Arizona.
You don't have to wait for winter to enjoy your RV in Arizona. Although Southern Arizona soars into the 100's during the summer months, Northern Arizona is cool, crisp and scenic. There are plenty of campgrounds and RV parks in Northern and Eastern Arizona to take advantage of the great summer activities from trout fishing, boating and hiking, to prospecting for gold and silver in the rugged Bradshaw Mountains near Crown King and Prescott.
No matter what time of year or season it is in Arizona, you will find a great place to enjoy the freedom of the wonderful RV lifestyle!
