Grand Canyon Railway Steamtrain, Vacation and Travel Information:
The revival of the reminiscent Grand Canyon Railway is one of the best things that happened to the famous tourist attractions that is the Grand Canyon. Spanning 60 miles of beautiful scenery, the train now services thousands of visitors to give them the ride of their lives. And to make the ride even more exciting, the Grand Canyon Railway line is actually marked with vertical drops and elevations. All the more reason to see for yourself what a trip on the canyon train will be like.
Getting on Board the Train:
Grand Canyon Railway begins at Williams Depot and takes visitors through Grand Canyon National Park. There are Amtrak trips going to Williams Depot. Once there, you can board the train early in the morning to get to the Grand Canyon National Park at noontime. The trip takes around two hours and fifteen minutes. The train will then take you back from the Park to the Williams Depot in the afternoon. Although you won’t get much time in the Park, the train ride itself is an attraction you need to experience.
Types of tickets and Class of Seats:
There are six different classes on the Grand Canyon Train, beginning with coach and budd coach seats with reversible seats and complimentary drinks. They also have the club class with a bar complete with snacks, first class with reclining seats and unhindered views of the scenery, and the observation dome for a different experience wherein you can drink spirits right under the bright sky. However, if the sky’s your limit, I recommend going for the luxury parlor cars. The idyllic and vintage cars will give you a unique ride through time over vast Northern Arizona Highlands, so make sure you have a trusty camera with you.
Special Train Packages:
Purchase one of the special packages for a convenient, complete, and hassle-free vacation trip. There are four special packages: Railway Getaway, Railway Getaway Plus, Canyon Limited, and Canyon Limited Plus. Railway Getaway is a one-night package that includes a round trip on coach class, accommodation for one night at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel plus the famous Max and Thelma’s buffet dinner and breakfast. The Railway Getaway Plus is the same package, except that it is for two nights. The Canyon Limited is a two-night package that includes an additional Freedom Rim tour and a Maswik Hotel room for the second night. But if you want to stay longer, you should opt for the three-night Canyon Limited Plus.
Special Grand Canyon Railway Events:
If you plan to go during your Christmas vacation, you have one rare treat in store. The Grand Canyon train transforms to the Polar Express in December. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you and your entire family should not miss. Tickets include cookies, hot chocolate, and a chat with Santa as you ride to the North Pole in the cool December night. There are special packages for the Polar Express trip as well, but make sure to book your tickets as early as possible because the Polar Express is becoming increasingly popular.
