Tombstone Arizona, A Wild West Vacation Destination!
Tombstone Arizona is the perfect vacation destination for anyone who has ever watched westerns and is familiar with the wild west. This city is most famous for the gunfight at the OK Corral, and the city is steeped in history which is both fascinating and exciting for many visitors!

Located in Cochise County, Tombstone has been made famous the world over with movies and books about cowboys and gunfights, good guys versus bad guys. Surprisingly, the year round population of the city is less than two thousand people, but hundreds of thousands of tourists each year include Tombstone in their vacation plans to explore the past and the days when this city represented the worst of the wild west. At one point the town almost became a ghost town, but tourism and a designation as a National Historic Landmark District for the Tombstone Historic District have saved the city. There are a lot of fascinating sights to see for visitors who have decided to stop in Tombstone. Bunker Hill, where some of the victims of violence from the many shootouts, including the one at the OK Corral, are buried. This may be the most famous cemetery in the entire United States. Included in the buried here were bad gunslingers who were hung, people who were lynched, and convicted criminals who were executed.

Another favorite historic place to visit when exploring on a vacation in Tombstone is the Cochise County Courthouse, and gallows nearby. This site has also been turned into a museum. For a price, visitors can gaze at the spot where the gunfight at the OK Corral happened, but this event was also a street fight on what is now Highway 80. You can see part of the history of Tombstone for free as well. Tourists to this popular city can see the world record rose bush. This bush is a Lady Banskia variety, and was put in soil in 1885. Today this gorgeous rose bush covers more than eight thousand feet of an inn roof, and the trunk of the plant is twelve foot around. This sight alone is enough to make a Tombstone vacation well worth the trip. The western climate is hot and dry in the summer months, and mild in the wintertime. There are a variety of lodging establishments and restaurants. Visitors who take a trip to Tombstone,can imagine themselves back in time, standing in the spot where famous gunslingers such as Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp and good guys once stood. The beautiful western sunsets, variety of desert flora and fauna, and all the excitement and history of the wild west are available here. Tourists who visit Tombstone during October may even see a fantastic reenactment of the gunfight that happened more than one hundred years ago.
